Engage with Age seeks to enable the voice of older people to influence matters that affect their lives.
The older peoples’ forums Engage with Age supports regularly hold meetings with decisions makers such as PSNI, Belfast City Council, the Consumer Council, transport providers, and health representatives. The Greater Belfast Seniors’ Forum, which Engage with Age supports, advocates for older people on health provision, transport, fuel poverty, and mental health services.
Engage with Age runs an ongoing consultative group which takes part in consultations and research on a wide range of matters such as TV Licencing, the Blue Badge scheme, and research into the needs of older people.
Engage with Age also has partnerships with Queen’s University of Belfast and Ulster University, and has recently published significant studies in partnership with both universities, seeking to improve services that affect older people.
Engage with Age can accept referrals of individual older people aged 50+ who are at risk of loneliness and social isolation, inviting them to participate in group activities. Engage with Age offers one-to-one telephone befriending support for individual older people but does not currently provide in person visits to individual older people. To make a referral please complete the on-line Referral Form and submit or alternatively please print off a copy of the PDF Referral Form and send it to us.
